It’s time to unwind

Society shapes us, setting expectations that bind. Unwinding is a way of examining how we live our lives in ways that focus on fulfillment.

Unwind = to enjoy being “off,” but also, in a macro sense, unwinding the tangled mess of nonsense one accumulates through life.

Who I am

I grew up in a Western family in an Eastern setting. I’m a cultural mutt. I achieved mediocrity in academic and (so far) professional endeavors, and always felt a pull into the extra-curricular. In the days of school, that manifested in playing music and soccer. Fantasy and science-fiction fueled my creative spirit, but there was a lot more input than output, reading over writing. I graduated from college with a degree in Philosophy, because I liked to think about everything. Now I write about everything.

What you will read here

Activities

Sporty things, mostly cycling, soccer, running, and whatever activity I'm pushed into by injuries and life circumstances.

Adventures

Outdoorsy amblings, traveling around the Pacific Northwest and Europe, and maybe someday a writeup of hiking a long trail. Or, depending on which apocalyptic future we're heading towards, some off-grid and homestead community blogging.

Art

Is it true that if you read and review enough books, they'll send them to you for free? Sign me up.

Why I write

This site isn't meant to be prescriptive, (you do you!) but rather an open examination of how I attempt to lead a fulfilling life. My hope is that you feel inspired to seek artistic and active adventures as well.
